Profile

Born in The Netherlands on the 8th of January 1979, I studied from 1998 to 2002 at the Hogeschool van Utrecht. This is a Higher Social and Cultural Education, that results in a Bachelor Degree, with as main subject - Art Education. I am currently residing in Stockport, Cheshire, United Kingdom, but might be moving back to The Netherlands in the upcoming months. The imaginary world intrigues me enormously, which can be found in my work. I think my style characterises itself by a continuous search for new techniques and combinations between them. I am specialized in digital art and (pencil) drawings. I work with: colour pencil, pastels, airbrush, h2o oils, watercolours, inks, photos and digital software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. My choice of media depends on my mood and subject. Founder of: My Little Fairy.

About my Work

Like most artists I have always drawn, but that became more serious when I was given a beautiful wooden box filled with colour pencils from my brother for my 18th birthday. At first I drew the things I have always loved as a child: flora and fauna. Later on I became fascinated with facial- and body expressions and I also like to use architecture in my work. Generally I follow a traditional progression from concept-sketches to compositional rough to finished illustration. I first got into fantasy art through the works of Linda Bergkvist and John Howe. I have also become a big fan of Mélanie Delon and Diane Özdamar's work. In the last few years I have been concentrating on learning how to draw with an electronic drawing tablet and art programmes such as Photoshop. Initially born out of a physical need, because I developed shoulder problems. Getting all my materials out, became such a big task, that it finally held me back to use authentic art media. But the need to create art continued to gnaw and I searched for another way to draw again. Digital Painting became an outcome. In 2008 I moved from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom to live with my fiancé. We now live in the Manchester area, where I also found more time and space to work on my art. Being happy must be good for my health too, because I can work with all media again. My artwork can be purchased as an original, print or card. The prints are subject to a limited edition and can be printed by your own specifications. In the last few years I am enjoying my art even more and hope you’ll enjoy your visit. I look forward to hearing back from anyone that wishes to contact me via email with questions, tips or comments.
