Anne D'Alton's Blog - the lure of the Art shop.

The lure of the art shop, is one of my weaknesses!

I am sure I am not alone in coming to a dead stop when I encounter one of these emporiums and to-day, was no exception.   With a deep determination NOT to purchase anything except what I needed, I was instantly beguiled by the virtually irrestable and oh so tempting array of artists' goodies on display!

I spent well over two hours - just looking - but being tempted again and again by items that (a) I had not seen before and (b) items I just might possibly need in the future.    Because I do a lot of drawing work, pens are wonderful implements as are boxes of (the most expensive) watercolours - artist's quality - of course.   However, like a true artist, I resisted buying anything - only to discover when I got home, that I had totally forgotten the important piece of equipment that I had originally decided to buy - and that I actually need for my work.   That is the problem with the lure of the art shop.

Regards, Anne

I totally agree...I love going to the art supply store. It is so easy to get caught up in all the great supplies especially new paints and brushes for me. I wish I had your will power! smilies/grin.gif

I always wind up spending more than I had intended! Then I feel guilty... Last night I had been in a hurry to get to the store before closing to pick up some panels and wound up grabbing a few brushes which quickly turned my 25.00 expenditure into 40.00. Art shops are exquisite little spaces that exhibit infinite possibilities for the creative individual... why should we feel guilty about that? smilies/shocked.gif)
