Synaesthesia 9 Years, 7 Months ago
Does anyone have any degree of synaesthesia?
I can see music in color and shapes, usually when it is played live.
I also get rather muddled with dates and days because for me some days are certain colors, and some numbers are also colors. If I have to link a 2 with a Wednesday, I feel rather uncomfortable, because 2is red and Wednesday is green. Thursday is purple, Friday is yellow.

I had an experience listening to a CD of early Spanish music and bang, the room was full of color and shapes. It was mesmerising, magical, and clear as a bell.
Now I need to go and resize the painting I did based on what I saw. For now, here is a link to it.

This is something I had heard of but I had no idea what it was called. I'd love some of that! It must be awesome as an artist! Here's the painting.

Yes, this has been discussed over on another forum I am a member of - I have it, especially with days of the week. Sundays are yellow, Mondays are brown, Tuesdays are blue, Wednesdays are green, Thursdays are purple, Fridays are red and Saturdays are white. Having said that, some days are always the same colour!

I have never heard of that. It does sound both interesting and confusing. I don`t know how I would use it even if I understood it. But my painting is from life. Images that I see or photograph, or find a photo that seems to need to be a painting.
Once some years ago, a friend wanted me to do a sunset painting of a sailboat heading for the horizon, but she had specific colors that she wanted me to use, and they weren`t sunset colors. I couldn`t do it, and finally told her that if she wanted the painting, I had to use the colors that were real, she wanted muted browns and pinks. She decided to let me do the painting as I saw it, and was happy with it when it when it was finished, but it even surprised me that I couldn`t do a painting in colors I couldn`t feel.

I'm a little bit like that but I want my next series to be much more muted. I want to 'force' myself to strip some of the color out of my work. No idea if I will succeed.

(Aitch and Sandpiperrose, your profile images got knocked into cyberspace when we integrated the bog software. Could you upload them again please? So sorry. )

I don't have synaesthesia, but I can certainly see the music in that piece
